DNSFetch (“we”, “us”, or “the site”) provides free DNS lookup tools at dnsfetch.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what choices you have. The site does not require an account.
Information we collect
- IP address. Visible in server logs, shown back to you on the homepage, and used for rate limits.
- Lookup input. Domain names, record types, IP addresses, and DKIM selectors you submit are processed to answer the query and may be cached for a few minutes.
- Internal search log. Each completed lookup is recorded as a timestamp, the query, and the field (for example
google.com (NS)) so we can count tool usage. This file is not published. - Standard logs. Time, URL, user agent, referrer, and status code.
- Messages you send. If you email us, we keep the correspondence as needed to reply.
How we use it
- To return DNS results and keep the service reliable.
- To rate-limit abuse and debug failures.
- To understand aggregate traffic (which tools are used, not a public search feed).
- To serve and measure advertising if ads are enabled.
We do not sell personal information. We do not publish a directory of queried domains.
Cookies
DNSFetch itself does not require cookies for lookups. Third-party advertising or analytics partners may set cookies. You can block cookies in your browser; the lookup tools will still work.
Advertising
We may use Google AdSense and similar networks. These partners may use cookies, pixels, or similar technology on this and other sites to show more relevant ads. Google’s use of advertising cookies is described in Google Privacy & Terms for partners. Opt out of personalized ads at Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.
Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting or standard analytics to count visits and popular pages. These tools should not be treated as anonymous if they collect IP or identifiers; we use them for aggregate operations only.
Retention
DNS caches expire after minutes. Rate-limit files are short-lived. The internal search log is kept for operational counts until it is rotated or deleted. Web logs are kept for a limited operational window (typically weeks) then discarded unless we must retain them for security.
Children
The site is a general-audience technical tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including GDPR and CCPA/CPRA regions), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data, and to appeal certain decisions. Because we do not run user accounts, the main identifier we may have is an IP address in logs plus any email you send. Contact hello@dnsfetch.com or use the contact page.
International processing
Servers and vendors may be located outside your country. If we transfer personal data from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses where required.
Changes
We will update the date at the top when this policy changes materially. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
